About WCMRC
Western Canada Marine Response Corporation is a Transport Canada-certified marine response organization responsible for providing marine spill response services along British Columbia’s coast. Our work is operationally complex, time-sensitive, and essential to protecting coastal communities, marine environments, and critical infrastructure.
We are seeking an experienced and capable IT Support Technician to support the administration, security, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of WCMRC's technology environment. This position requires sound technical judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in both day-to-day operations and emergency response environments.
The Opportunity
This position provides technical support to WCMRC employees and assists with the operation and maintenance of the organization's technology systems. With directions from the Director, Information Technology, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365, infrastructure, networking, and end-user technologies while developing their technical skills & knowledge.
What You’ll Do
- Provide Tier 1-2 level support to end users and oversee access to applications.
- Provide training to staff on usage of newly implemented systems.
- Respond to technical issues and assist with troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, and infrastructure problems.
- Assist with maintenance, monitoring, and support of infrastructure systems under the guidance of senior IT staff.
- Ensure project documentation is complete and archived appropriately following project completion.
- Collaborate with network services, software systems engineering and/or application development to restore service and/or identify problems.
- Assist with the administration and support of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and related infrastructure systems.
- Foster positive communications within the organization, the department, and work teams from a technology standpoint.
- Participate in infrastructure projects (systems and networks).
- Identify and communicate ideas for improving software processes.
- Assist in other duties involving computer and network setup and operations.
- Primarily provide remote support but also provide on-site support as required.

Required Skills and Experience
We are looking for a technically capable IT Support Technician who can work independently while knowing when to collaborate or elevate. The successful candidate will bring:
- Diploma, certificate, or equivalent education in Information Technology, Networking, Systems Administration, or a related field.
- Microsoft certification.
- 1+ years of previous and progressive technical support, IT help desk, or related experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing software application support including dealing with users, and working with computers, printers, and phones.
- Experience supporting Windows workstations, Microsoft 365, printers, mobile devices, or other business technology.
- Demonstrated interest in learning new technologies and developing technical skills.

Salary Range: $68,438 to $80,515 annually, based on experience and qualifications. A higher starting salary may be considered for applicants who bring additional relevant experience, advanced expertise, or exceptional qualifications aligned with the needs of the role.
