As Senior Systems Engineer, you lead the technical outcome of complex space missions, translating high-level requirements into actionable, verifiable specs. You’ll own system requirements, budgets, and interfaces, coordinating with discipline leads and external partners to ensure mission success. You act as the technical lead for internal and external teams, resolving discrepancies and safeguarding on-orbit performance. You’ll serve as the main technical liaison with customers, guiding missions from development through on-orbit validation.

- Take overall technical ownership of Space and/or Ground Systems from development through on-orbit verification
- Lead requirements management for a mission or program including development, validation, verification, and change management
- Lead technical risk management for a mission or program including identification, mitigation, and resolution
- Develop top-level requirements and flow-down to lower levels with discipline leads and SMEs
- Serve as the primary Spire technical POC to customers and contractors
- Serve as the customer's technical representative to Spire-internal teams
- Develop working knowledge of Spire's satellite platforms, operations systems, and payloads
- Proactively communicate changes in scope or performance impact to program/project managers
- Develop, deliver, and maintain mission documentation for programs and missions
- Support the sales engineering team in technical concepts, budgets, feasibility assessments, and documentation during the sales cycle
- BSc in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent STEM-related subject or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years in a technical engineering discipline or as a systems engineer for complex integrated systems
- Comprehensive understanding of space systems, concepts of operations, and remote systems operation
- Strong interpersonal skills for client relationships
- Effective communication with cross-functional teams
- Ability to coordinate across disciplines and time zones
- Experience with RF and optical payloads
- Architecture and design of digital systems including ground stations, data distribution, and spacecraft data handling
- Experience coordinating diverse technical teams across disciplines and time zones
