In this role you will design, develop, test, and support Java-based backend services and REST APIs within a financial services environment. You will deliver reliable, secure, and well-documented APIs that integrate with upstream and downstream systems to support business-critical workflows. Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services and REST APIs to support financial workflows
  • Implement API design, security, versioning, and documentation standards
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders in an Agile environment to deliver scoped API changes
  • Write automated unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and support release quality gates
  • Support production readiness through logging, monitoring, defect triage, and performance tuning under guidance
  • Maintain clear technical documentation for APIs and integrations (endpoints, payloads, dependencies)
Key requirements
  • Hands-on Java backend development experience with REST APIs in production or near-production environments
  • Proficiency with Java API frameworks and patterns (e.g., Spring Boot / Spring MVC) and maintainable service layers
  • Understanding of secure API fundamentals (authentication/authorization, data protection) and adherence to enterprise standards
  • Strong SDLC knowledge (source control, code reviews, automated testing) and experience in Agile delivery
  • Experience in a financial services or regulated environment emphasizing reliability, controls, and documentation
