Java Backend Software Engineer II

Build Java backend applications with Mastercard in Vancouver, focusing on high-performance software, testing, and secure real-time decisions. The role is office-based.

As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute hands-on to design, development, testing, and delivery for Mastercard’s Decision Management platform. Apply Java, Spring, SQL, and Oracle knowledge while collaborating with experienced engineers and supporting junior team members. The platform combines business rules, AI engines, streaming big-data technologies, APIs, and in-memory data grids.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain primarily Java application functionality
• Develop unit, integration, and functional tests
• Own features from development through testing and delivery
• Diagnose technical issues and solve complex problems
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with stakeholders

Requirements:

• Strong Java and Spring development skills
• Knowledge of object-oriented design and software principles
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, or EasyMock
• Good SQL knowledge and Oracle database experience
• Agile development and high-performance application experience
