Java Developer

Location: Manchester, Hybrid
Contract: 6 months
Rate: 522 per day
IR35: Inside IR35
Working pattern: Initially 1-2 days per week in the Manchester office, with the potential to move to fully remote working after the first few months.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a 6-month contract supporting an AWS migration programme.

The primary focus of the project will be migrating services from a single AWS account to a multi-account AWS environment . This is a hands-on development role, so we are looking for someone with strong Java coding skills who is comfortable writing, reviewing, testing and monitoring production-quality code.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial Java development experience
• Strong hands-on coding ability
• Experience with Spring Boot
• Good knowledge of AWS services and cloud environments
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests
• Experience reviewing code and working within established development standards
• Experience monitoring applications and investigating logs
• Experience working with Grafana dashboards
• Comfortable troubleshooting application and service issues

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• Designing and writing high-quality Java code
• Reviewing code produced by other developers
• Developing and maintaining unit tests
• Monitoring services and application performance
• Working with Grafana dashboards
• Reviewing logs and investigating issues
• Supporting the migration of services from a single AWS account to a multi-account AWS structure
• Working collaboratively with the wider engineering team throughout the migration
