Java Developer – Algo Development Technology (Equities)

In this role you will build and evolve real-time, high-performance algorithmic trading systems for equities. You’ll collaborate with technologists and trading teams to enhance execution capabilities that support portfolio managers. Expect to design scalable features, ensure low-latency performance, and translate market constraints into robust technical solutions. You’ll stay current with relevant tech and support critical trading infrastructure through analysis and troubleshooting. This is a chance to impact execution platforms at a global investment firm.
Responsibilities- Partner with technologists and trading teams to enhance execution offerings for Portfolio Managers
- Build and evolve real-time algorithmic trading systems and execution platforms
- Develop and improve features on a mission-critical trading platform
- Design and upgrade software for performance, scalability, and quality
- Translate business requirements and market constraints into technical solutions
- Stay current on technologies and tools; support data analysis and L3 troubleshooting for trading infra
- 7+ years of experience with equities execution systems
- Experience developing execution algorithms (VWAP, TWAP, Inline, Pairs)
- Experience with matching engines and dark pools
- Experience implementing automated testing strategies for algorithms (simulation, backtesting, regression suites, replay)
- Deep understanding of market microstructure, pre-trade risk checks, limit frameworks, and regulatory requirements
- Expert-level Java skills for low-latency, GC-aware, high-throughput distributed systems
- Strong understanding of distributed, event-driven architectures and messaging (Kafka, Solace)
- Experience with algo container frameworks; AI tools to aid development is a plus
