In this Lead Software Engineer role within CIB – Markets Technology, you drive the design, development, and operation of trusted, scalable software solutions that support core business objectives. You work as a technical contributor in a cross-functional agile team, shaping architecture and delivering secure production-grade code. You lead the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to boost quality, speed, and reliability, while aligning with enterprise standards. This role offers impact at scale, influencing how technology enables market-leading outcomes and resilience across systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions beyond routine approaches
  • Create secure, high-quality production code and review others' code
  • Lead adoption of AI-assisted coding, testing, and refactoring practices with established validation standards
  • Improve automation and SDLC tooling to maximize value and efficiency
  • Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to enhance stability and resiliency
  • Lead architectural evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams
  • Contribute to and lead communities of practice in software engineering
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive team culture
Key requirements
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering
  • Hands-on experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced proficiency in programming language(s) (e.g., Java)
  • Strong SDLC and agile methodology expertise including CI/CD, resiliency, and security
  • Experience leading AI-assisted software development tools adoption and governance
  • Knowledge of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and secure data handling
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services IT landscape and regulations
  • Practical cloud-native experience at scale
  • Strong communication and collaboration
  • Mentorship of junior engineers
  • Ability to drive innovation and influence technology strategy
  • Java (or other advanced programming language)
  • AI-assisted development tools (coding, review, testing)
  • CI/CD
