Java Payment Processing Software Engineer

Build Java services for Marqeta’s real-time payment infrastructure from Ontario or British Columbia under its Flexible First model. Ship production code that directly shapes transaction success.

As a Software Engineer II, you will work on Core Edge Processing, routing and authorizing transactions across card networks. You will develop distributed systems skills while learning alongside senior engineers. The work includes AWS-operated services, production troubleshooting, and payment processing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ship production code across routing and processing systems
• Own features and bug fixes from design through production
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
• Expand Java, distributed systems, and payment processing skills
• Collaborate with senior and staff engineers

Requirements:

• At least two years of professional engineering experience
• Experience deploying and operating mission-critical AWS services
• Solid Java fundamentals and interest in deeper learning
• Production debugging and troubleshooting experience
• Strong communication and receptiveness to feedback
