Junior Accountant

Eagle Market Makers, Inc. (EMM), a proprietary futures trading firm, is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support our daily accounting and reconciliation functions. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate to gain practical experience in accounting, financial operations, and the futures industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily reconciliations between EMM’s internal records and exchange and clearing statements, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Reconcile bank accounts and verify cash transactions.
• Support basic accounting functions, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and accurate recordkeeping.
• Review and reconcile vendor invoices and statements, obtain required approvals, and process payments.
• Track outstanding bills and payment deadlines to ensure timely payment.
• Assist with month-end close and prepare supporting schedules and documentation.
• Work with accounting, trading, and operations staff to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or nearing completion of an accounting degree.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles and account reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate clearly.
• Professional judgment when handling confidential financial information.
• Prior internship or accounting experience is helpful but not required. No futures industry experience is necessary.
