Overview

In this Junior Cloud Reliability Engineer role, you will support the backend infrastructure behind RuneScape and related titles, gaining hands-on exposure to cloud, networking, Linux systems, and game services. You’ll work in a small team to keep online experiences stable for hundreds of thousands of players, handling day-to-day requests and gradually taking ownership of infrastructure projects. The position offers strong development opportunities as you learn through incident response, IaC, and platform management. Responsibilities
  • Learn backend infrastructure including game world systems, networking, build pipelines, data center hardware, and cloud infrastructure
  • Handle day-to-day support requests and troubleshoot live systems, escalating and investigating root causes
  • Assist development teams with cloud-native workloads and using our cloud platform via Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Contribute to Linux VM fleet management, including monitoring, configuration management, and workload optimisation
  • Participate in incident response and post-mortems to understand failures and improve resilience
Key requirements
  • Proficient with Linux terminal and bash scripting
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and the OSI model
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and curiosity about how systems work
  • Good communication skills and eagerness to learn, including willingness to ask questions
  • Prior infrastructure or SRE experience is a plus
