Junior Data Engineer

In this role you will help build and maintain data pipelines to deliver reliable data that informs business decisions. You’ll work within the General Insurance Data Engineering Team to ensure data flows are robust and support insights across AXA Insurance. You will write Python and SQL, perform data quality checks, and collaborate with analysts to translate data requirements into effective solutions. The position offers hybrid work with increasing in-office presence over time and the chance to grow your data engineering skills in a large, customer-focused insurer.

• Build and maintain reliable data pipelines integrating data from multiple sources
• Write SQL and Python scripts to support ETL processes
• Conduct data quality checks and follow best practices
• Participate in code reviews to uphold standards and share knowledge
• Document processes and contribute to team wikis
• Monitor scheduled jobs and alert on failures
• Collaborate with analysts and teammates to understand and deliver data requirements

• Degree or equivalent experience (apprenticeship, internship, coursework, or self-directed projects)
• Python skills for data processing or scripting
• Fundamental SQL knowledge for querying and manipulation
• Genuine interest in data engineering and willingness to learn
• Familiarity with structured data formats and relational databases
• Strong communication and team-oriented Collaboration
