Junior Mining / Civil Field Technologist

In this field-focused role, you support operations maintenance and surveillance of earthen structures at active mine sites and civil projects. You will work independently in the field with periodic project support, primarily on a 12-hour shift pattern and travel to remote northern locations. You help ensure HSSE compliance, quality control, and accurate field data to inform construction and design. - Attend daily tailgate meetings
- Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions to improve safety
- Monitor geotechnical parameters for quality control per design/specifications
- Perform advanced soil sampling and compaction testing using a portable nuclear gauge
- Interpret design and IFC drawings and material/construction specs
- Store, transport and maintain nuclear densometers
- Report construction monitoring observations and results; provide guidance during construction
- Adhere to quality, documentation, and data management procedures
- Contribute to standardized procedures and shared goals
- Troubleshoot technical issues in the field to ensure high-quality results
- Operate light vehicles and ATVs to access construction areas
- Engage with stakeholders to gather information
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with current Driver’s Abstract
- Standard First Aid Level C with AED, CSTS, and H2S Alive
- Working knowledge of geotechnical material testing equipment and soil sampling
- Ability to understand radiation safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including extreme cold in the Canadian Arctic
- Pre-access drug and alcohol testing and criminal background check
