Junior Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs usingIBM API Connect (APIC) and related technologies.
  • Manage thefull API lifecycle : planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
  • Configure and manageAPI Gateway policies (security, throttling, rate limiting, transformations, etc.).
  • Integrate APIs with backend systems such asdatabases, SOAP/REST services, and microservices .
  • Ensure compliance withAPI security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS, SAML, etc.).
  • Work with DevOps teams to integrate APIs intoCI/CD pipelines .
  • Monitor API usage, troubleshoot performance issues, and optimize for scalability.
  • Document APIs and providedeveloper-friendly portals for external/internal consumers.
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Required Skills

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience withIBM API Connect (APIC) and DataPower Gateway.
  • Strong knowledge ofREST, SOAP, JSON, XML , and API design best practices.
  • Proficiency inAPI security protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, LDAP, SAML).
  • Experience in JavaScript ,Node.js, Java, or Python for backend API development.
  • Familiarity withcloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Knowledge ofCI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-To-Have Skills

  • Experience withmicroservices architecture and event-driven integrations.
  • Exposure toAgile methodologies and DevOps practices.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical thinking with attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused mindset.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma inComputer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Please provide transcript.
