Lead Backend Engineer - Technologist

In this role you will lead backend engineering to design and implement core application logic, APIs and microservices for data processing and integrations, while ensuring secure, reliable server environments. You’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to shape product vision and roadmap, remaining hands-on in architecture and design. You will mentor the team, conduct code reviews, and remove blockers to deliver high-quality software. This is a client-facing, delivery-focused opportunity in a scaling FinTech consultancy in Newcastle.

• Design and implement core application logic
• Build APIs and microservices for data processing and integrations
• Oversee secure, reliable server environments
• Gather requirements with clients and internal teams

• Experience across multiple technologies including Python, TypeScript, C#, .NET, C++, Rust
• Strong API design and RESTful services
• Client relationship management in a consultancy environment
• Business acumen and ability to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Solid understanding of SDLC and modern software engineering practices
• Strong CS fundamentals (OOP, data structures, patterns, algorithms)
