Lead Cloud Platform Engineer - Leeds - £75K - Hybrid

I am looking for a Lead Cloud Platform Engineer for a pharmaceutical company based in Leeds. You will be in the office 2 days a week. The Lead Cloud Engineer will provides strategic technical leadership for the companies cloud-native platform engineering initiatives, establishing architectural standards and operational practices that enable scalable SaaS product delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Platform Engineering team, defining the vision, strategy and roadmap to ensure platform initiatives align with organisational priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Lead and develop the Platform Engineering team, shaping its vision, strategy and roadmap to deliver against broader business and technology objectives.
  • Mentor engineers in Kubernetes, Docker, Helm and GitOps, ensuring infrastructure changes follow robust engineering standards and best practices.
  • Ensure the reliability and resilience of production SaaS infrastructure, providing third-line support for complex incidents and escalations.

Key skills the Lead Cloud Platform Engineer will have:

  • Excellent Kubernetes experience
  • Very proficient with AWS
  • 4 years experience as a Cloud, DevOps or Platform Engineer
  • AWS or Kubernetes certifications are desirable
  • Previous experience managing/mentoring a small cloud/platform team
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience
