Lead Data Engineer

In this leadership role, you will shape and drive the Security Data and AI lab’s data engineering capability, building secure, production-grade data foundations for AI, ML and analytics. You’ll craft the data engineering strategy and roadmap, own scalable pipelines, and partner across Security, Cloud, Architecture and Product teams. You will mentor engineers and foster a high-performing engineering culture while balancing resilience and speed. This is a chance to impact security, data, and AI at scale within a leading bank.

• Shape and lead the lab's data engineering capability and strategy
• Define and drive the data engineering roadmap for the lab
• Own scalable data pipelines and production-grade data foundations for AI/ML/analytics
• Embed secure-by-design principles across data platforms
• Collaborate with Security, Cloud, Architecture and Product teams
• Mentor engineers and build a high-performing engineering culture

• Proven experience leading technical delivery and mentoring engineers in a senior or lead capacity
• Strong experience designing, building and operating scalable data platforms and pipelines in complex environments
• Experience with cloud-native data platforms across Azure, AWS, GCP or similar enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of data modelling, data quality, metadata, lineage and governance principles
• Ability to make pragmatic, risk-aware technical decisions balancing resilience, pace and long-term maintainability
• Experience embedding engineering best practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, observability and version control
• Strong collaboration skills across engineering, security, data science and product teams
