Lead Data Scientist – AI Transformation

Our client is a fast-growing UK professional services business that is investing heavily in AI. They need their first data scientist to take AI from pilot into production across the business.

“Lead” here means owning the work rather than managing people. You’ll set the direction and decide how to approach problems, with more hires budgeted behind you.

What you’ll do

• Find where AI will have the most impact in core workflows
• Run experiments with human-in-the-loop review and LLM-as-Judge, then take the winners into production
• Set baselines, metrics and dashboards that show real impact at board level
• Monitor models in production for drift and quality issues

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years in data science, with models you’ve put into production and kept running
• Hands-on LLM experience (prompt design, RAG, evals; Langfuse or similar is a plus)
• Python, SQL and a cloud data platform
• Confidence explaining results to senior, non-technical stakeholders
