Overview

As Lead ESE / BESS Systems Engineer, you will steer the portfolio and lifecycle of Electrical Supply Equipment and Battery Energy Storage Systems to deliver a standardized, cost-effective hardware configuration set that lowers total cost of ownership. You will collaborate with regional and operations teams to develop requirements, onboarding, and decommissioning plans, while driving supplier performance and strategic partnerships. Your work directly supports the bp pulse charging network’s growth and reliability. You will shape future ESE strategy and manage a data-driven view of costs and benefits. Responsibilities
  • Lead portfolio management for ESE and BESS, including techno-economic assessments to optimize TCO
  • Own lifecycle management for ESE and BESS from requirements through onboarding, delivery, maintenance, incidents, and decommissioning
  • Develop ESE and BESS technical requirements with regional and Customer teams, and with operations and hardware teams
  • Define and implement ESE remote control and monitoring requirements
  • Develop future ESE strategy and roadmaps to standardize and simplify configurations
  • Own onboarding plan and vendor management in line with Procurement Strategy and support
  • Maintain data-based cost-benefit analyses from a global perspective
  • Manage supplier partnerships, drive performance, and conduct market analysis to inform hardware strategy
  • Define and track KPIs to measure success and drive continuous improvement
  • Own and manage ESE and BESS product catalogs
Key requirements
  • Fluency in EV charging technologies and networks
  • Experience in Portfolio Management
  • Experience in Cost-benefit analysis
  • Experience in product management for industrial goods
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of energy markets
  • Strong track record in hardware project delivery for EV infrastructure (switchgear, transformers, packaged substations, BESS)
  • Knowledge of industry technical standards and grid access constraints (LV/MV/HV)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA including remote control and monitoring
