Lead Full Stack Engineer
Talentedge
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in Clapham Junction
Salary: £85-95k plus RSAs and other benefits
The Opportunity
We’re working with a well-established UK consumer business undergoing an exciting period of digital transformation and growth.
They’re looking for a Lead Full-Stack Developer to take a hands-on technical leadership role across multiple digital product areas. You’ll have genuine influence over engineering standards, architecture and technology decisions, while also mentoring and developing a talented team of engineers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced full-stack developer who enjoys staying close to the code but also wants to shape technical direction, engineering culture and cloud architecture .
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead full-stack engineering across multiple product/value streams, taking ownership of technical quality, delivery and engineering capability.
- Set and influence technical direction across the application stack, making pragmatic architectural decisions around areas such as SSR vs client-side rendering, API design and application architecture.
- Work closely with the Architecture team on low-level solution design, translating complex requirements into practical and deliverable technical solutions.
- Remain hands-on with development while providing technical leadership and guidance to the wider engineering team.
- Mentor developers, encourage strong engineering practices and support the ongoing development of team members.
- Lead the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools, identifying opportunities where AI can genuinely improve engineering productivity while establishing appropriate guardrails.
- Design and manage Azure cloud infrastructure, working with technologies including Kubernetes, Service Bus, APIM and Key Vault.
- Manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Pulumi.
- Champion modern software engineering practices including TDD, BDD, SOLID, event-driven architecture, serverless and DevSecOps.
- Work collaboratively with Product, UI/UX, Architecture and external engineering partners to deliver scalable, high-quality digital products.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years’ commercial software development experience, with at least 2 years in a senior, lead or technical leadership position.
- Excellent knowledge of React / Next.js and .NET Core.
- Proven experience working with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native technologies.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform or Pulumi.
- Good understanding of CI/CD, with Azure DevOps experience highly desirable.
- Experience with Docker and containerised applications.
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles, including TDD, BDD, SOLID and clean architecture.
- Experience with event-driven and/or serverless architectures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across engineering and wider business teams.
- A genuine interest in mentoring engineers, improving engineering practices and raising technical standards.
Why This Role?
This is more than a traditional Lead Developer position. You’ll have the opportunity to remain technically hands-on while also influencing architecture, engineering standards, cloud strategy and the way the wider development team operates.
You’ll join a business investing heavily in its digital platforms, technology and people, with plenty of scope to make a visible impact as the organisation continues to scale.
