Lead Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer

Lead ML infrastructure architecture remotely from the United States, using Ray, Kubernetes, and cloud-to-edge deployment at Samsara. Shape platforms serving millions of devices.

As Samsara’s technical anchor for Safety AI, you will own training, experimentation, inference, and edge deployment. You will guide platform direction across applied ML, firmware, security, and data platform teams. The scope may align with Staff, Senior Staff, or Principal experience, based on demonstrated ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set strategy and delivery for Samsara’s end-to-end ML platform
• Design scalable Ray and Spark inference systems
• Deploy validated models to Samsara devices
• Own reliability, observability, security, and incident response
• Mentor engineers and scientists across Safety AI

Requirements:

• 10+ years in machine learning engineering
• Tech lead ownership across two major ML platform domains
• Production expertise with Ray and Kubernetes
• Deep knowledge of evaluation, datasets, ablation, and drift
• Cross-organization leadership on platform trade-offs
