Overview

As a Lead .Net Developer at Hippo, you drive technical excellence within a multidisciplinary squad to deliver user-centred software. You guide architecture, pipelines, and delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve client problems at scale. You’ll mentor engineers, contribute to business development, and help raise the engineering profile externally. This role blends hands-on coding, leadership, and strategic influence in a fast-growing consultancy.

Responsibilities
  • Act as technical SME within the squad to ensure user-centred software aligns with business requirements and best practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver client solutions
  • Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines, pre-empting bottlenecks
  • Review and prioritise delivery workload and realign with evolving priorities
  • Communicate progress and prototypes clearly to stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with team and stakeholders to overcome challenges
  • Involved in recruitment, onboarding and line management of engineers; support professional development
  • Promote Hippo’s Engineering Herd externally via blogs, workshops, seminars or conferences
Key requirements
  • Excellent experience in the .Net ecosystem, especially C# and ASP.NET MVC
  • Proven track record of leading a delivery team to deliver robust solutions
  • Expertise in Azure and DevOps
  • Coaching and guiding others toward optimal solutions
  • Excellent verbal/written communication in technical and non-technical terms
  • Experience across the full development lifecycle delivering user-centred digital solutions
  • Advanced full-stack skills: C#, F#, ASP.NET MVC, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • JavaScript library/framework experience (Node, React, Angular) preferred
  • Containerisation expertise (Docker or Kubernetes)
  • Expert knowledge of Microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
  • Experience with agile methods (Scrum, Kanban, TDD)
  • Designing/building native and web apps across scales and environments
  • Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, or ARM)
  • Mastery of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps, Atlassian)
