Lead Network Engineer

In this role you will deliver expert L2/L3 support for a complex, multi-site enterprise network within a mission-critical Defence environment. You will work closely with the delivery team to maintain secure infrastructure and minimize service disruption. You’ll configure Cisco routing and switching, optimize F5 and Fortinet security platforms, and manage firewall policies and VPNs. This is a high-impact, on-site position on a nationally significant project with cutting-edge technologies. You will contribute to secure, resilient networks and continuous improvement in a highly controlled setting.

• Provide expert L2/L3 support for a complex multi-site enterprise network, resolving incidents and reducing downtime.
• Configure and maintain Cisco routing and switching infrastructure, including core connectivity services.
• Support and optimise F5 application delivery and load balancing to ensure availability and performance.
• Administer Fortinet firewalls and security services, including policy management and VPN configuration.
• Execute planned network changes, upgrades, and site deployments in line with change control and security standards.
• Update LLDs, technical documentation, and operational procedures; support project delivery and continuous improvement.

• Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
• Experience with Cisco firewalls, including Firepower.
• Experience with Fortinet technologies.
• Exposure to F5 and wider network security tooling.
