Overview
As a Senior Python Developer on the Athena Rates team, you will architect and implement solutions for risk management and PnL analysis across rates products. You will work with quants, traders, and risk managers to connect front, middle, and back office systems, enabling scalable data flows and complex calculations. You contribute to the evolution of an automated trading platform and help translate business needs into robust technical designs. This role offers impact across trading desks and risk analytics, with a focus on performance and reliability.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain software solutions for rates trading activities
- Collaborate with quantitative analysts, traders, and risk managers to integrate systems across front/middle/back office
- Develop scalable, performant code handling large market data volumes
- Implement risk metrics, PnL attribution frameworks, and data pipelines
- Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and technical design sessions
- Minimum 5 years of Python development experience
- Financial services background preferred
- Strong OO design, testing methodologies, and version control
- Proven ability to write clean, maintainable code in large codebases
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
- Experience gathering requirements from business users and translating into technical solutions
- Willingness to work on legacy applications when required
