Role : Lead Scala Developer

Day Rate : £485 p.d (Inside IR35)

Client : Dept of UK Government

Location : 2 back-to-back days in Newcastle per month

Clearance : BPSS

Duration : Initial 3 months with likely extension

Futureheads is recruiting a Lead Scala Developer for a leading tech consultancy that specialises in delivering complex and high-impact projects within central government.
Essential Requirements:

• Experience in working in a MacOS or Linux environment is essential.
• Experience in a Lead Developer or equivalent leadership position, with a strong background in Scala development.
• Hands-on experience in developing microservices with Play Framework.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (eg, Git), and modern dev tooling, such as IntelliJ, VS Code, sbt (Scala).
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Experience in participating and influencing architectural decisions across large codebases.
• TDD advocate.
• Prior gov/public sector experience.
