Lead Snowflake Administrator

We are looking for a delivery-focused Snowflake Horizon Data Catalogue Delivery Specialist to help establish a trusted, governed and well-populated data catalogue. Working across business and technical teams, you will identify existing Data Products, assess publication readiness, improve metadata and classification, and promote approved products into Snowflake Horizon.

This role combines hands-on Snowflake knowledge, data-governance expertise and strong stakeholder engagement. You will help deliver a usable catalogue and leave behind repeatable publication processes that teams can increasingly manage themselves.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain an inventory of Data Products and related Snowflake assets, identifying readiness, duplication, obsolescence and gaps.
• Review Snowflake databases, schemas, tables, views, shares and analytical assets to define catalogue-ready Data Products.
• Complete and validate data contracts, business-friendly metadata, ownership, classification, sensitivity and access information.
• Publish approved products into Snowflake Horizon using agreed processes and work with Snowflake and DataOps.live specialists to improve automation.
• Test listings for discoverability, metadata quality, lineage, ownership and access-request behaviour, resolving or escalating issues appropriately.
• Run focused discovery, metadata and publication workshops with Data Product Managers, Data Owners, engineers and business stakeholders.
• Maintain a clear delivery backlog covering progress, dependencies, risks, decisions and next actions.
• Document reusable guidance, templates, governance checks and publication patterns, while coaching teams towards self-service ways of working.

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake data platforms, including databases, schemas, tables, views, roles, privileges and data sharing.
• Experience with Snowflake Horizon Catalogue, Horizon governance capabilities or Snowflake Marketplace listings.
• Practical knowledge of data contracts, metadata-driven publication, lineage and data-product concepts.
• Strong data-governance knowledge covering ownership, stewardship, classification, sensitivity, auditability and access control.
• Ability to read and modify YAML or JSON, with sufficient Python, scripting or pipeline knowledge to support an existing publication process.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git-based version control and automated data-platform delivery.
• Proven ability to work across technical and business teams, facilitate workshops and turn ambiguous information into clear actions and catalogue content.
• Strong organisation, written communication and stakeholder-management skills, with an outcome-focused and collaborative approach.
• Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience, plus demonstrable experience in business change and digital transformation.
• DataOps.live, dbt or comparable data-delivery tooling.
• Open Data Contract Standard or another formal data-contract framework.
• Power BI, Excel, Microsoft Purview or enterprise data-catalogue environments.
• Regulated, infrastructure, utilities or critical-national-infrastructure environments.
