Lead Software Engineer

Lead Software Engineer : Contract : Up to £500/day inside IR35 : Fully Remote, UK : 6 months initial

A well-established UK business is seeking a contract Lead Software Engineer. The focus is modernising the company’s logistics platform, integrating core enterprise systems and bringing AI capabilities into key operational processes.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you’d lead the design and development of the platform using .NET and Azure, while setting technical standards across the team. You’d build integrations between key enterprise systems and help deliver new AI-driven features. You’d also work closely with senior stakeholders to shape requirements and priorities.

As a contract Lead Software Engineer you’ll be competent in:

• Building and maintaining production systems with .NET / ASP.NET Core, C#, Entity Framework Core, MS SQL Server and Azure
• Designing event-driven architectures, message bus / middleware integrations and RESTful APIs
• Integrating AI/ML capabilities such as Azure OpenAI Services, LLMs or predictive models
• Integrating ERP and Ecommerce platforms with 3PL / WMS systems
• Leading engineering teams and authoring technical documentation such as SDDs, BRDs and interface specifications
• Domain experience in Retail or Supply Chain Logistics is an excellent advantage.

The role is fully remote, open to candidates based in the UK.
