LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER – C# / .NET

Cheltenham Spa / Remote

£70k - £75k DOE

With continued growth across their Engineering function, this is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking team and play a key role in shaping the next generation of their core platform.


About the Role


You’ll be working on modern, scalable software across C#/.NET, AWS, APIs, event-driven architecture and distributed systems, with genuine scope to influence how the platform evolves. The business is also embracing AI-assisted engineering, giving developers access to modern tools and approaches to build better software, faster.


Responsibilities


  • Act as a Technical lead, Mentoring other Engineers and performing code Reviews
  • Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.
  • Develop backend services, APIs and event-driven applications.
  • Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
  • Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
  • Support UI development using Blazor where required.
  • Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
  • Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the development process.


Qualifications


  • Commercial Software Engineering experience with C# and .NET
  • Experience working as a Senior/Lead engineer acting as a technical Lead
  • Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
  • Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
  • Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

  • Observability, logging and monitoring.
  • Secure coding and resilient application development.
