Overview

In this role you will design and lead software solutions for underwater robotics, delivering complex subsea software for Saab’s vehicles. You will guide multidisciplinary teams to align inputs from software, hardware and systems disciplines with customer needs. You’ll own the software content delivery for Saab products, leveraging architecture and process leadership to ensure quality and safety. This is a hands-on, impactful position at the intersection of innovation and defence technology.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software for underwater robotics aligned with business needs
  • Lead multidisciplinary software teams to deliver complex subsea software projects
  • Develop software architecture for complex systems from scratch
  • bind inputs from multiple software/engineering disciplines to deliver software content
  • Engage with customers and act as a technical authority to drive project success
  • Plan work, estimate effort, and manage team workload and resources
  • Develop processes to ensure industry best practice and software quality
  • Mentor junior engineers and manage budgets and resources
Key requirements
  • ≥7 years of experience as a Senior Engineer
  • Degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline
  • Broad understanding of software from embedded to applications
  • Experience leading multi-disciplined software teams
  • Ability to develop system-level requirements and derive lower-level requirements
  • Strong understanding of safety concepts and design
  • Customer-facing communication and ability to act as a technical authority
  • Experience estimating work and planning for teams
  • Familiarity with standards and cyber security considerations
  • Practical understanding of cyber security impacts on design
  • Ability to interface with customers and communicate to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with software development tools and environments
  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments
  • Ability to delegate tasks and manage resources and budgets
