Overview

In this Lead Software Engineer role, you guide a team delivering software solutions for Tax & Legal clients, helping drive digital experiences and automation. You will collaborate with Product Owners to shape and deliver world-class software that supports both client needs and internal professionals. You’ll explore emerging technologies, including AI-driven development, to enhance document management and workflow automation at scale. The position sits in a fast-paced, LEAN Agile environment that blends startup spirit with a large corporate platform. You will shape the technical direction and mentor others while contributing to high-impact projects in the UK and globally.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor software and QA engineers across multiple projects
  • Develop and deliver software solutions in collaboration with a Product Owner
  • Integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI-driven development, Web Components) into systems
  • Build web applications with C#/ASP.NET Core and front-end React/Typescript
  • Ensure cloud-first architecture with robust CI/CD and IaC practices
  • Maintain secure coding standards and DevSecOps focus
  • Design data models and work with databases (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Create reusable components and promote best practices across teams
  • Provide technical guidance within a LEAN Agile, Scaled SCRUM environment
  • Support application operations and continuous delivery on cloud platforms across Azure services
  • Advise on architecture patterns, messaging, and microservices integration
Key requirements
  • Hands-on software design, specification, and development experience
  • Ability to articulate how generative AI solves workflow and knowledge-management problems
  • Experience leading and mentoring others
  • Proficiency in C# or Java
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, clean architecture, REST APIs, and messaging
  • Data modelling with SQL/NoSQL databases
  • Experience in web applications with user-facing interfaces
  • Agile collaboration and ethos, with experience in DevSecOps and CI/CD
  • Security practices including SAST/DAST/Penetration Testing
  • Ability to operate in a cloud-first, containerised environment (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Blazor, Angular)
  • Familiarity with Azure/CLOUD, IaC, and container deployment
  • Knowledge of Entity Framework and ORM tools
  • Experience with enterprise messaging platforms (Service Bus, MQ, Kafka)
