Lead Software Engineer

In this role, you lead a focused engineering squad within a broader AI-enabled services platform used by tax and legal professionals. You combine hands-on software delivery with technical leadership, shaping scalable back-end and front-end solutions. You collaborate with a Product Owner to align on priorities while mentoring a small team. The work sits at the intersection of AI, workflow automation, and knowledge management, offering impact across critical, high-stakes domains. You will drive technical excellence and reusable components at scale.

• Lead a squad of software and QA engineers and provide line management for ~4 developers
• Lead end-to-end software design, specification, and delivery
• Collaborate with Product Owner to focus on technical leadership and solution quality
• Build back-end services in C#/ASP.NET Core and front-end in TypeScript/React/Blazor
• Develop cloud-first applications with strong test coverage, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
• Containerise and deploy apps via Azure Kubernetes Service
• Design resilient microservices integrated via a cloud message bus
• Uphold secure coding and infrastructure standards
• Share knowledge and elevate team skills
• Create reusable components for other teams

• Hands-on experience designing and delivering software end-to-end
• Ability to articulate how generative AI solves document management, workflow automation, and knowledge management
• Track record of leading and mentoring engineers
• Strong experience in a modern OO language (C# or Java)
• Deep knowledge of software design patterns, clean code, and clean architecture
• Experience building REST APIs and working with messaging systems
• Confidence in defining data models and working with databases
• Experience shipping user-facing web applications
