As a Lead Software Engineer, you will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You will design and build secure, reliable and supportable solutions, help establish reusable engineering patterns and guide complex changes successfully into production.

You will influence how we engineer, not just what we deliver.

• Lead the design, development and support of Salesforce, MuleSoft and enterprise integration solutions
• Build reusable APIs, services and platform capabilities that help teams deliver consistently
• Champion secure engineering, automated testing, resilience, performance and maintainability
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, design reviews and constructive engineering guidance
• Diagnose complex defects, integration issues and production incidents, implementing durable solutions
• Contribute to engineering standards, platform governance and knowledge-sharing across Technology & Change
• Help shape the future of Vanquis

The tools helping us shape what’s next

• Salesforce: Apex, Lightning Web Components, JavaScript, Salesforce Flow, SOQL and SOSL
• MuleSoft: Mule 4, Anypoint Studio or Code Builder, DataWeave, connectors and reusable flows
• APIs and Integration: REST, SOAP, event-driven patterns and API-led integration
• Engineering and DevOps: Git, branching strategies, pull requests, CI/CD and automated quality controls
• Operational Engineering: Monitoring, logging, alerting, performance tuning and controlled releases

Essential experience

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience in complex, enterprise-scale environments.
• Experience delivering Salesforce, MuleSoft or enterprise integration solutions.
• Experience creating secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable software.
• Knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Experience diagnosing complex technical issues and supporting production services.
• The ability to review technical designs and engineering work, providing clear and constructive guidance.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers or helping teams strengthen their capability.
• Confidence communicating technical choices, risks and trade-offs to different audiences.

Useful, but not essential

• Experience in financial services or another regulated environment.
• Knowledge of UK GDPR, secure data handling and controlled change practices.
• Experience with Financial Services Cloud, Salesforce Shield, Event Monitoring, Data Cloud, Agentforce or Einstein.
• Experience with Anypoint Exchange, API Manager or CloudHub.
• A relevant Salesforce or MuleSoft certification.
• Experience within fintech, consumer lending, cards or retail banking technology
