Overview

In this Lead Software Engineer role, you provide technical leadership while remaining an active contributor to production software. You guide a small squad, shape architecture, and ensure delivery aligns with business priorities. You’ll coach engineers and drive high-quality, scalable cloud-native solutions in a fast-paced aviation tech environment. Responsibilities
  • Design, build, test and operate software with hands-on contribution to production systems
  • Lead squad technical delivery and align engineers on the right approach for timely delivery
  • Coach and develop up to four engineers, conducting performance and development discussions
  • Set and uphold engineering standards through code reviews, testing and operational ownership
  • Improve CI/CD, automated testing, observability and production operations
  • Foster continuous learning and experimentation within the squad
  • Explore AI-assisted engineering tools to boost productivity
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to deliver pragmatic solutions
Key requirements
  • Strong commercial experience developing applications using .NET & JAVA
  • Experience leading technical work while remaining hands-on
  • Ability to mentor and support engineers while maintaining high delivery standards
  • Experience designing, building and operating cloud-native solutions on AWS
  • Experience with microservices, APIs and distributed systems
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals and modern development environment experience
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and production support
  • Broad technical knowledge with depth in at least one area
  • Experience coaching or mentoring engineers
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted engineering tools like Claude Code or Codex
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
