Lead Software Engineer

As Lead Software Engineer in the Performance Technology group, you shape high-performance software that underpins Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, and Vehicle Performance. You lead a small team, set technical direction, and own delivery across a diverse software estate. You work hands-on while elevating engineering standards and bridging performance needs with software solutions. • Define technical direction, architecture, and quality standards for the team
• Mentor engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, and feedback
• Manage dependencies and risks across concurrent projects, balancing delivery and technical debt
• Translate performance problems into deliverable software for engineering and performance functions
• Contribute to technology strategy within Performance Technology and the broader software group

• 10+ years of software development experience with at least 2 years in a senior/lead role
• Full-stack capability including low-level C++/Rust and Python for data analysis
• Strong architecture experience across distributed systems and real-time streaming (Kafka, WebSockets)
• Familiarity with or curiosity about functional programming (e.g., F#)
• Demonstrated track record delivering scalable, maintainable systems with ownership
• Pragmatic, outcome-driven mindset with stakeholder engagement
• Experience with modern DevOps: CI/CD, containerization, infrastructure-as-code
