Overview

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase, you will lead and contribute to scalable, secure software across backend, services, and modern UI layers. You’ll drive system design, mentorship, and engineering excellence on an agile team that delivers outcomes for clients and the business. This role emphasizes end-to-end delivery, robust architectures, and operational stability at scale, with a focus on responsible AI-assisted tooling. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners to shape high-impact solutions that align with the bank’s mission of trusted, scalable technology delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver full-stack solutions using Java/Spring Boot and React/TypeScript with focus on security, resiliency, and performance
  • Own end-to-end delivery across the software development lifecycle with clear accountability for outcomes
  • Build containerized microservices and platform capabilities with strong code quality and reviews
  • Lead technical design and architecture discussions with stakeholders
  • Develop backend services and APIs integrating with relational databases, search platforms, and enterprise systems
  • Create operational UI/console experiences in React/TypeScript with usable workflows
  • Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka with robust patterns
  • Enhance operational stability through incident response, root cause analysis, and automation
  • Drive adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices and establish validation standards
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews and communities of practice, fostering diversity and inclusion
Key requirements
  • Extensive experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability in large-scale enterprises
  • Advanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
  • Frontend experience with React and TypeScript
  • Experience building and consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Knowledge of search/indexing concepts and Elasticsearch
  • Proficiency with CI/CD, automation, and tools: Jira, Confluence, IntelliJ IDEA, VS Code, Maven, Git, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Sonar
  • Experience with monitoring, tracing, and observability tools
  • Experience with enterprise-approved AI-assisted development tools and ability to validate AI outputs
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure engineering practices
  • Automation-first mindset for AI-assisted or agentic automations across SDLC and CI/CD
