Lead Software Engineer - Java / AWS / AI

In this Lead Software Engineer role within Corporate Technology, you drive the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable software solutions for financial services. You will mentor teammates, influence engineering practices, and collaborate across squads to meet business objectives. You’ll push for AI-assisted development, improve operational stability, and help shape the team’s culture and technical direction. • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and troubleshooting to solve complex problems
• Develop secure, high-quality production code and review/debug code written by others
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value
• Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for existing systems

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and IT systems
• Practical cloud native experience
