Overview
As Tech Lead in Mercer’s CAT team in London, you own technical direction for a UK-based squad and collaborate with an India engineering pod. You will drive end-to-end delivery of analytics and technology products, translating stakeholder needs into robust designs and scalable solutions. You’ll lead architecture, security, and integration choices while mentoring engineers across time zones, with a focus on practical AI/ML opportunities and governance.

- Lead end-to-end delivery of CAT products from framing through release and support
- Translate risk advisory needs into technical requirements and designs, guiding UAT and rollout
- Own backend and integration approach (APIs, data flows, security, RBAC) ensuring scalability and maintainability
- Provide technical leadership for a distributed team (London + India): sprint planning, code reviews, mentoring
- Drive quality and operational readiness: testing, CI/CD, release notes, production governance, incident analysis
- Identify and deliver pragmatic AI/ML opportunities with governance and human-in-the-loop controls
- Experience managing a team (leading a 5-person team) and hands-on coding
- Proven track record as Tech Lead / Lead Engineer delivering production software
- Strong backend engineering skills (API design, data modelling, performance)
- Experience working with business stakeholders in a financial firm and communicating tradeoffs
- Ability to lead delivery with an agile team across time zones
