Overview

In this role you build and evolve the backend that powers Connected Devices, shaping high-volume, scalable services. You lead architecture decisions and design solutions for new product offerings, aligning with a fast-paced, AI-enabled platform. You ensure platform resilience and reliability to deliver a great user experience. You mentor teammates, share knowledge, and help raise engineering quality across the team. This role puts you at the core of a growth-focused platform shaping the Cisco ThousandEyes Connected Devices roadmap.

Responsibilities
  • Develop code across backend systems including streaming, APIs, services, and databases.
  • Ensure resilience and robustness of the platform to maintain high-quality user experiences.
  • Design technical solutions for new products and architectural evolutions.
  • Improve development and operational processes for speed, reliability, and quality.
  • Mentor teammates through practical guidance and knowledge sharing.
Key requirements
  • Expert-level understanding of Java or Kotlin.
  • Extensive experience with distributed systems, especially Apache Kafka.
  • Strong architecture and design skills including data and API modelling.
  • Experience with agentic AI development and harness development.
