Overview

As Lead Supportability Engineer you will head a multi-disciplinary team delivering end-to-end supportability work across the lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with IPTs to advise on requirements, perform analyses, and guide design and maintenance strategies. The role focuses on driving reliability, maintainability, safety, and through-life cost, while fostering continuous improvement and mentoring junior engineers. You’ll contribute to shaping best practices and reducing lifecycle risk in a global aerospace/defence context.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of Supportability Engineers delivering diverse work packages
  • Advise Project Managers and IPTs on Supportability requirements and provide analytical guidance
  • Conduct reliability analysis across components to systems, including RBD for electronic, power, RF, digital and mechanical domains
  • Lead reliability testing and simulation (FEA, HALT, RGT, ESS) and devise Reliability Growth plans
  • Perform Maintainability analysis addressing Human Factors and Maintenance Task Analysis to ensure operational capability
  • Carry out Testability analysis (FMECA) with Hardware teams to improve fault detection and feedback design
  • Contribute to Product Safety analyses within the broader safety team and feed into Hazard Log and Safety Case
  • Analyze production and in-service data (FRACAS) to identify root causes and prioritize corrective actions
  • Help develop and implement In-Service Support strategy and through-life cost modelling
  • Ensure milestones, budget, and technical quality; provide Life Cycle Management input; drive continuous improvement; chair PCRBs
Key requirements
  • Degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline
  • Industry or defence experience; experience in leading and developing teams
  • Commercial and business awareness; experience delivering project work packages
  • Ability to manage complex situations with sound judgement
