Overview

As an HPC Architect at MBDA, you will shape the long-term roadmap for high-performance computing environments and ensure alignment with business objectives. You’ll build scalable, high-throughput infrastructure and manage compute, storage and interconnects across multinational teams. Your work partners with engineers and vendors to meet evolving needs while upholding security and governance. This role offers cross-border collaboration, development opportunities and a values-driven culture in a defence context.

Responsibilities
  • Define long-term HPC strategies and roadmaps.
  • Build and maintain scalable, high-throughput HPC infrastructure (compute, storage, interconnects).
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to align services with business needs.
  • Engage with multinational teams and HPC vendors to drive capability development.
  • Ensure HPC services meet security, compliance and governance requirements.
  • Evaluate vendor solutions and emerging technologies for economic value.
  • Monitor, benchmark and optimise HPC performance, and manage ITIL-based incident/change processes.
Key requirements
  • Advanced Linux knowledge (authentication, DNS, DHCP, file system management).
  • Advanced knowledge of HPC system architecture (compute, storage, scheduling, monitoring).
  • Ability to define long-term HPC strategies and roadmaps.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking in complex environments.
  • Experience evaluating vendor solutions and new technologies for business value.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance in HPC contexts.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills; translating business needs into technical outcomes.
  • Knowledge of performance benchmarking, optimisation and profiling tools.
  • Knowledge of IT service management and governance frameworks (ITIL).
  • Awareness of ESG and sustainability in data centres and PC design.
