Overview

In this role, you will manage and evolve a global CentOS/Linux platform across private and public clouds for a high-availability SaaS fintech service. You’ll partner with platform architects to design secure infrastructure, lead incident response, and drive production-ready automation and new tech adoption. The role offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment with opportunities to influence architecture and tooling. You’ll work to scale systems while embracing open source innovations to improve performance and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and engineer a global CentOS/Linux platform estate across private and public clouds
  • Maintain and optimize hosted server architecture on Dell hardware; collaborate to architect separation of server infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot issues and handle incident escalations, promoting production change management
  • Evaluate and prototype open source solutions; evangelize and shape the architecture
  • Leverage automation and configuration management tooling to manage hosts and deployments
  • Support multi-cloud strategies with GCP and potential AWS adoption
  • Monitor and ensure system performance and reliability in a high-traffic SaaS environment
  • Assist in backups, DNS, mail, PTP, and basic network troubleshooting
  • Ensure security and maintenance practices align with production requirements
Key requirements
  • System administration of RedHat Linux / CentOS
  • Server hardware architecture
  • VMware, KVM or oVirt
  • Managing hosts via Satellite, Foreman, Puppet, Chef and Ansible
  • Disk interfaces and storage concepts (NFS, iSCSI, RAID)
  • DNS, Mail, PTP, backups
  • GCP and/or AWS compute services
  • Scripting in Python and Bash
  • Monitoring tools (Collectd, Nagios, Graphite, Grafana)
  • TCP/IP and basic network troubleshooting
  • Basic NAT and firewall concepts
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Incident management under pressure
  • Open-source evangelism and collaboration
  • CentOS/RedHat administration
  • Cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform, AWS
  • Virtualization: VMware, KVM, oVirt
