Overview
In this role you will support a high-profile quant hedge fund’s development team as a Junior Linux Systems Engineer. You’ll build and maintain Linux servers, VMs, containers, and mixed environments, while shaping storage and networking across multi-petabyte systems. You’ll work with open source tech to create high-availability clusters and automate routine tasks. This is a hands-on, growth-focused opportunity in a relaxed, innovation-driven culture.

- Develop and maintain Linux servers, desktops, VMs, containers, databases, and Windows hosts
- Administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Design topology for storage and network using ZFS, Ceph, NVMe
- Contribute to Open Source–based projects like a high-availability VM cluster and container tool
- Advance configuration management and automation of tasks
- Proactively monitor and help enhance monitoring platforms
- Implement and enforce system and network security
- Identify and promote best practices and open source solutions
- Evangelise and prototype new technologies to influence architecture
- Very comfortable with Linux (Ubuntu/Debian-based) and kernel fundamentals
- Scripting experience in Shell, Python, or Ruby
- Some configuration management experience (Puppet or Salt)
- Interest in DevOps and automation
- Basic understanding of IP networking (switching, routing, VLANs, TCP/IP)
- Basic knowledge of NAS/SAN or distributed storage architectures
- Proactive problem solving
