Linux Systems Engineer- Hedge Fund

In this role you will support a high-profile quant hedge fund’s development team as a Junior Linux Systems Engineer. You’ll build and maintain Linux servers, VMs, containers, and mixed environments, while shaping storage and networking across multi-petabyte systems. You’ll work with open source tech to create high-availability clusters and automate routine tasks. This is a hands-on, growth-focused opportunity in a relaxed, innovation-driven culture.

• Develop and maintain Linux servers, desktops, VMs, containers, databases, and Windows hosts
• Administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls)
• Design topology for storage and network using ZFS, Ceph, NVMe
• Contribute to Open Source–based projects like a high-availability VM cluster and container tool
• Advance configuration management and automation of tasks
• Proactively monitor and help enhance monitoring platforms
• Implement and enforce system and network security
• Identify and promote best practices and open source solutions
• Evangelise and prototype new technologies to influence architecture

• Very comfortable with Linux (Ubuntu/Debian-based) and kernel fundamentals
• Scripting experience in Shell, Python, or Ruby
• Some configuration management experience (Puppet or Salt)
• Interest in DevOps and automation
• Basic understanding of IP networking (switching, routing, VLANs, TCP/IP)
• Basic knowledge of NAS/SAN or distributed storage architectures
