Requirements:

  • Strong experience producing high-quality designs and system documentation
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft enterprise stack, including Azure, M365, Power Platform, Entra ID, Purview and Intune
  • Strong proficiency with Visio or Miro, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and collaborative tools such as Teams and Azure DevOps
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and visual language conventions
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical detail clearly and concisely

Responsibilities:

  • Capture whiteboard sessions, notes and high-level concepts from the Enterprise and Security Architects, converting them into High-Level Designs, Architecture Decision Records and Technical Design Documents
  • Produce clear diagrams, process flows and system maps in Visio or Miro
  • Maintain a single, organised source of truth for architectural documentation in SharePoint
  • Critically review captured concepts to identify missing details, implicit assumptions, ambiguous requirements or governance gaps
  • Proactively flag risks, missing non-functional requirements such as security, scalability and operational readiness, and unaddressed dependencies
  • Validate technical detail with specialists across Security, Infrastructure, DevOps and Data
  • Ensure all documentation meets enterprise architecture standards, governance frameworks and security baselines
  • Lead document review sessions and walkthroughs with engineers, project managers, transition managers and business stakeholders
  • Translate complex architecture concepts into clear language for less-technical audiences

Bench IT is seeking an experienced M365 Architect to join a large organisation, starting as soon as possible and working full time in Warrington for an initial 6-month period. The role sits inside IR35 and acts as the crucial bridge between high-level architectural strategy and practical technical delivery, working closely with the Enterprise Architect and Security Architect. The successful candidate will turn whiteboard concepts, meeting notes and design discussions into structured architectural artefacts while also challenging assumptions, identifying gaps and flagging risks early.
