Role Summary

Avanciers is a premier IT Staffing/Consulting organization recruiting for a long-term contract role for one of our premier clients in Canada, for a Mainframe Architect position.

Location: Canada (Remote). Employment type: Contract. Seniority level: Mid-Senior.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing application development and architecture solutions across the mainframe environment.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Core Mainframe Expertise : Extensive background in solution design and architecture across legacy Mainframe technologies, including Assembler, COBOL, and PL/1.
  • Modernization Leadership : Demonstrated success in mainframe modernization initiatives, leveraging contemporary IBM solutions (e.g., Z/OS Connect, ZDIIH) to enhance system functionality and connectivity.
  • Migration Strategy : Proven ability to architect solutions and develop effort estimates for migrating mainframe workloads to distributed system environments.
  • Development Tools : Practical experience using IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz).
  • Domain Knowledge : Strong functional understanding of the retail banking sector, covering core banking platforms, lending services, and card systems.
