Overview
In this role you maintain and optimise IMS environments to ensure performance, stability, and resilience of core mainframe systems. You will support high-availability operations, resolve complex incidents, and collaborate with cross-bank teams while driving modernization and automation initiatives. You contribute to risk management and compliance while applying disciplined change control. This position offers opportunities to shape mainframe infrastructure in a large, security‑driven financial context.
Responsibilities- Build, maintain and optimise infrastructure solutions to meet reliability and performance targets.
- Monitor and respond to IT infrastructure performance to prevent outages and reduce incident MTTR.
- Develop automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Implement secure configurations and protect infrastructure from threats and unauthorised access.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers to align IT infrastructure with business objectives and data-driven decisions.
- Stay informed on industry trends and contribute to technology communities to foster technical excellence.
- Ample knowledge of IMS DB/DC, z/OS, JCL, system utilities, and mainframe infrastructure
- Ability to diagnose multi-faceted production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and restore service quickly in a high-availability environment
- Experience implementing changes safely, maintaining system stability, and ensuring performance and resilience
- Knowledge of Assembler with user exits is advantageous
- Ability to improve efficiency through scripting, job automation, monitoring, and process optimisation
- Understanding of the IMS Catalog and IMS Managed ACB concepts
- Strong risk and controls awareness and ability to couple change with governance
