role Tripstack is about 180 people across Toronto, Pune, and Kraków. The scope is global IT for the company: the laptops and desktops our people work on, the SaaS and licences they use, the hardware and network in our three offices, and the procurement, vendor management, spend tracking, and capital planning that sit behind all of it. You own the IT budgeting and are accountable to the CTO and Finance for where the money goes.

This is a hands‑on role. You will work closely with our Security, SRE, People, and Finance teams, and are the single point of accountability for IT across all three offices.

Responsibilities Run global IT operations

Own onboarding and offboarding from the IT side: accounts, hardware, and access provisioned before day one and revoked completely on exit, with evidence

Own office IT in all three locations: network, Wi‑Fi, meeting rooms and AV, printers, and physical access systems where they fall under IT

Administer the collaboration stack - Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, and the long tail of SaaS - including licence hygiene, integrations, and lifecycle

Act as the escalation point for anything IT‑related that affects the business, and communicate status plainly to leadership when something is broken

Own IT procurement and vendor management

Own all IT purchasing globally: hardware, peripherals, software, SaaS subscriptions, telecom, and IT services, with a consistent request‑to‑purchase process across three countries and currencies

Negotiate pricing and terms, consolidate overlapping tools and vendors, and right‑size seat counts against actual usage

Own IT spend tracking and capital planning

Own the IT operating and capital budget end to end and report against it monthly with Finance

Build and maintain a multi‑year OPEX/CAPEX plan: device refresh cycles, office infrastructure, and one‑off investments

Own the cost side of all cloud spending (e.g. GCP, AI tools, etc.), identify unused seats, duplicate tools, and shadow IT, and bring them under management

Partner with Security and SRE

Implement and maintain the endpoint security baseline with our Manager, Security: MDM enforcement, disk encryption, EDR, OS and application patching, and local admin control

Own identity and access administration for corporate systems in partnership with Security and SRE e.g. SSO coverage, group hygiene, and periodic access reviews

Create a clear boundary with SRE on what is corporate IT and what is production infrastructure, so nothing falls between the two functions

Improve how IT works

Document the function: processes, standards, and runbooks that a new team member can follow without asking

Automate the repetitive parts of provisioning, licensing, and reporting, and use AI tooling where it reduces manual effort without reducing control

Set and publish a small number of service metrics - time to resolve, device compliance, onboarding readiness, budget variance - and report on them monthly

Requirements

Proven experience running IT operations for a company of similar size, including direct management of an IT team and accountability for an IT budget

Strong procurement and vendor management track record: negotiating SaaS and hardware agreements, managing renewals, consolidating vendors, and working with Finance and Legal on contracts

Budget ownership: building and reporting against an IT opex and capex budget, asset accounting, and multi‑year capital planning

Experience supporting distributed teams across multiple countries and time zones

Clear written and verbal communications; comfortable presenting cost and risk to executives in plain terms

8+ years in IT operations, at least 3 in a management role

Based in the Greater Toronto Area and available to work across Toronto, Pune, and Kraków time zones

Strong differentiators

Experience running IT as a subsidiary or business unit inside a larger group

Experience supporting a software engineering organization, where the users are technical and the device and access needs are different from a typical corporate environment

Experience with SaaS management platforms and spend intelligence tooling, and a record of measurable savings from licence and vendor consolidation

Experience operating IT controls inside a PCI DSS, ISO 27001, or SOC 2 audited environment, including producing evidence for auditors

Regular use of AI tools in your own work and a view on where they help an IT function and where they do not

Additional Experience That Would Be Considered An Asset

Familiarity with ITIL or a comparable service management framework, applied pragmatically rather than by the book

Scripting for automation - Python, Bash, or Apps Script - enough to automate reporting and provisioning tasks

Exposure to travel technology or another regulated, high‑availability industry
