Overview

In this role you will contribute to building a greenfield Data and Processing Platform within Baringa's Energy Products practice, shaping architecture and delivering scalable software for energy market modelling. You will work closely with internal developers, energy modellers, and client-facing experts to enable more effective client delivery. Expect a focus on engineering excellence, reliability, and observability, with strong emphasis on CI/CD and agile delivery. This is a chance to impact decarbonisation efforts by enabling advanced data analytics and model-driven insights at scale. Responsibilities
  • Shape design, implementation, and ongoing support of a greenfield data platform and its software products
  • Collaborate with internal developers, energy modellers, and business users to build capabilities that improve delivery
  • Promote engineering best practices, embedding quality, reliability, and observability into products from the start
  • Design and implement robust CI/CD automation and continuously improve engineering processes
  • Engage across the team’s agile lifecycle from refinement to delivery, driving iterative improvements
Key requirements
  • Senior engineer with experience in high-performing teams
  • Proficiency in at least one general programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, TypeScript)
  • Knowledge of data management technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Databricks)
  • Experience with modern software engineering tools (Git, CI/CD), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Experience across technology stack with frontend and/or backend frameworks (React/Angular/Vue/Blazor; FastAPI/Spring Boot/.NET)
  • Ability to justify technology and architectural choices and communicate complex concepts clearly
  • Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
