Managing Consultant - Software Engineering

In this role you will shape and lead architectural initiatives for complex client challenges, working within PA Consulting’s Defence & Security focus. You’ll drive strategic growth, develop and launch new service propositions, and guide cross-domain architecture decisions. You collaborate with senior stakeholders and FTSE 100 clients, mentor teams, and translate technical insights into business value. • Lead the launch of new service propositions and drive strategic business growth
• Own and execute business development initiatives, building trusted client relationships
• Collaborate with FTSE 100 clients, guiding them through complex challenges with clarity
• Support team growth through coaching, knowledge-sharing, and opportunities for development
• Shape and communicate architectural strategies across application, business, and integration domains
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks and modelling tools; contribute to client engagements and pre-sales activities

• Led architecture and development teams delivering end-to-end solutions for complex client challenges
• Strong understanding of the defence sector with experience in banking, insurance, payments, or wealth management
• Ability to shape and communicate architectural strategies across domains (application, business, integration)
• Skilled at building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and translating technical insight into business value
• Proven track record in business development, including pre-sales, proposals, and client engagement
• Familiarity with UML, ArchiMate and related modelling tools
• Established network of senior stakeholders within the defence/related sector to support partnerships
