As Market Data Engineer you will support and optimize real-time market data environments to enable fast, reliable trading workflows. You will partner with portfolio managers, trading desks, and tech teams to meet evolving data needs and drive platform enhancements. Your work spans low-latency processing, data distribution, and automation of operational processes to improve stability and speed. This role sits at the core of Millennium's SPEED Data team, shaping the technical direction of market data infrastructure. You will impact how efficiently the firm consumes and distributes market data across global environments.
Responsibilities- Support and manage enterprise and latency-sensitive real-time market data environments
- Partner with Portfolio Managers, trading desks, and tech teams to address market data needs
- Shape the team's technical direction through platform enhancements and initiatives
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to build real-time processing and distribution systems
- Optimize platform performance to reduce latency and improve reliability
- Design and build tools for monitoring, metrics, visualization, and self-service administration
- Improve operational processes including release management, incident response, and SLA enforcement
- Contribute to the stability and evolution of the global market data plant across environments
- Experience supporting market data environments in a global organization with feed handlers and distribution infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of market data concepts, data models, messaging protocols, order book structures, recovery, and reliability
- Hands-on experience with Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters platforms
- Site reliability engineering or operational expertise including automation and release/deployment management
- Experience with monitoring and metrics for distributed market data platforms
- Degree in Computer Science or related field with object-oriented programming or scripting experience
- Solid understanding of Linux internals, networking, and CPU architecture in high-performance systems
- Strong prioritization, communication, relationship management, and ownership in fast-paced environments
