Working as part of our Microbiology Division (MBD), within the Specialty Diagnostics Group, you'll play an active part in help deliver meaningful impact. The Microbiology Division creates microbiological solutions for the diagnosis of infectious disease and detection of bacterial contamination. We serve public health, clinical laboratories, food companies, environmental screening and pharmaceutical laboratories with a portfolio of products that include culture media, antimicrobial susceptibility testing solutions and market-leading molecular solutions for food safety testing.

The Manager, Master Data Management, (MDM) is responsible for developing standard processes and governance rules to source, collect and maintain business data, working in partnership with the business and IT functions to ensure the quality, consistency, and accessibility of all business data. This person will lead the Master Data team and is responsible for understanding the operations business data: Item Master, BOMs (Bill of Materials), Formulas, Recipes, Vendor Master and Customer Master. The Manager, MDM is also the global leader responsible for strategic coordination and leadership activities related to master data and data quality. This team is part of the Global Supply Chain organisation and provides key contributions to enterprise and organisation goals in alignment with overall business strategy.

A Day in the Life

  • Provide Microbiology Division with a trusted single version of accurate data to facilitate the best decisions end users can make for the future of the business
  • Create and implement a Master Data Management strategy to ensure data standardisation and quality
  • Establish and maintain governance relating to the quality of Supply Chain master data, adapting as needed to changing business trends and requirements; operationalize governance processes for creation/change of data, to define business rules, and to implement and improve data standards, integrity, and consistency
  • Collaborate across business functions to find opportunities for data and process integration; evaluate and make recommendations regarding proposed design modifications
  • Define and communicate guidelines to business partners to ensure data standards while supporting business needs
  • Establish key business relationships to continuously review and refine data requirements needed to meet organisational objectives
  • Develop and implement data quality measurement criteria; monitor critical metrics for team and implement improvement initiatives to increase timeliness and accuracy of data management and governance
  • Ensure proper controls are in place and are consistently adhered to
  • Monitor team audits and reporting
  • Work with Business partners as appropriate to resolve any issues and improve process efficiencies
  • Act as Lead for projects related to Data Management
  • Make recommendations for process improvements based on audit results to ensure data integrity and alignment to all SOX and Data Governance policies and procedures
  • Conduct effective reviews of business processes and data to ensure quality of information delivery in efficient and effective ways
  • Mentor and coach team members on data management methodologies
  • Collaborate with Enterprise and Data Architecture and Business Intelligence teams to ensure alignment with other global data governance areas of practice (e.g., Data Architecture, Data Modelling, Data Storage & Operations, Security, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Analytics)
  • Collaborate with Business Leadership to define vision, data standards and organisational change roadmaps
  • Serve as domain authority on Master Data Management for IT and Analytics initiatives
  • Acts as a change agent who is dedicated to inspiring and fostering valuable change

Experience

  • Professional experience demonstrating success leading master data management programs in a global organization
  • Experience working with integrated business systems e.g., Oracle, Kinaxis, EDI, Power BI, Tableau, Smartsheet
  • Preferred work experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and health care industries
  • Understanding of Data Governance and the role of a successful MDM practice including data quality and privacy regulations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of MDM concepts, benefits, standard methodologies, and challenges
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end business processes, e.g., Demand/Supply Planning, Inventory Management, Contract Manufacturing, Logistics and Order Management.
  • Demonstrable experience in business process development
  • Expertise leading efforts with multi-functional collaborators
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong critical thinking skills
